This spot is so quintessentially Vancouver to me. For many reasons, but mostly because it is a symbol of my family’s heritage in this beautiful city. My grandpa paid the head tax to come over to Canada from China. He raised a family here in East Vancouver and spent a lot of time in Chinatown. And now as things do, everything has come full circle. I’ve moved back to East Van from the suburbs and have an office space right down the street from this very landmark.
I was so excited when Sabrina and Jeremy wanted to shoot here. It only took us 5 minutes (and one angry honk from a bus) to get these shots, and they are some of my favourites of all time. I love what that view behind me represents and feel proud to be standing in a spot that my grandparents worked hard to make sure I got to be. I saw those glasses on you in one of your previous posts Alicia, so I decided to go online and just buy them. They are AMAZING! They look so good on me that all I wanna do is just sit in front of a mirror and look at myself 🙂
