i have a love/hate relationship with this dress. i saw it at forever 21 and had to have it. didn’t try it on, bought it anyway. got home, put it on and hated it. planned to return it and somehow didn’t make it back to metrotown for 30 days. couldn’t bring it back any more and figured i’d give it away. put it on again a few months later with this brown belt and loved it all over again. i’m just happy that i’m getting wear out of it. a maxi dress really is the perfect thing to throw on, especially on the weekends. speaking of which, it’s almost the long weekend. what does everyone have planned? i’m going on a full fledged staycation. pretty pumped.
happy friday π
Glad you kept the dress. I love it.
And I love your blog. Follow each other? π

LOL Alicia.. funny story. I had the same problem with this dress!!! I haven't officially worn it out yet, but I didn't quite like the elastic band at the waist, so I paired it with a brown belt similar to yours! Chic outfit, but I definitely have a love/hate relationship with this dress. My gf wore the maroon/pink version of this for a shoot but I prefer this colour!
Where are you heading to? I'm off to Whistler for the weekend, hope to put at least one of my maxi's to good use π Hope you'll have an awesome weekend ahead as well π
Great dress! You look awesome. Now I'm going to have to try the trick of using belts with my maxi dresses to see if I enjoy them more. Have a great weekend!
That always happens to me!
I love maxi dresses and can't wait to buy some more for Summer.
You look GORGEOUS!!

I absolutely love the print of that dress! You look great!
It looks great with the belt! I love it.
I love how you styled this dress. and the one shoulder style? so chic, so chic.
Have a nice long weekend!

This dress is stunning! How could you have ever not loved it? Either way, this looks beautiful on you and I loved how you styled it with the brown leather and mustard yellow accents. Gorgeous as always π
Oh and this weekend's my boyfriend's birthday and we're going to the Bourbon Saturday night, if you love its grime and shit all over the floor as much as I do, come down!
Alex xoxo
That's a very pretty dress! Very seventies, if you ask me π
Ha! You're so funny, I tend to do that with a lot of clothes as well, don't try it on, hate it, too lazy/can't be bothered to go return it, end up loving it in the end. It looks fantastic on you though, fits amazing and definitely perfect for beating the Vancouver heat ;)! Have a nice weekend!
This is stunning, I seriously can't believe you ever considered returning it.
This dress looks great on you! I never knew there was a Forever 21 in metrotown – I should check that out sometime soon (I've never been to that store).
Happy long weekend!

Totally agree that maxi dresses make for the ultimate weekend throw-on. I'm not doing much this long weekend except wallowing… I start work on Tuesday and that means my days of month-long vacations are over! π

okay, 1st of all, i want hair that touches my belt too!!!! gosh how i adore your shiny loooooong locks Alicia. so, so pretty! that dress looks brilliant on you, love the one shoulder look and that clutch is perfect. don't know why you'd question it, total winner! completely pumped for the weekend, happy wishes to you. can't wait to see what you get up to. β₯
I think that dress is super cute on you. Love the belt too!
This post made me laugh- but also reassured me because I am notorious for not trying things on, particularly at inexpensive stores like F21 and H&M, then getting home and wondering what the hell I could possibly have been thinking… only to let the offending item sit in my closet anyway, tags on, until eventually I find some way to wear it that was not at all what I originally intended. But what all of that rambling out of the way, I can't believe you ever hated this dress. The colours couldn't suit your skintone more perfectly, and the ruffled one-shoulder top is gorgeous. Have a fabulous long weekend! I'm in staycation mode, too… I have plans for so much sleep π

That dress is beautiful on you! You are the Queen of the Maxi.
Sometimes the same thing happens to me. The return policy at F21 forces me to either exchange something within a few days, or just work with something that I might have taken back. This dress looks like a smart pick. The belt looks great with it, and the one-shoulder silhouette is so flattering.
its a beautiful dress and looks good on you.
