I went to a group meeting the other day where we sat down and were asked a ‘Check-In’ question. Something that took me a bit by surprise, as my freelance meetings are usually with one or two others, we aren’t usually structured enough to carry out such an exercise. We all had to share our worst haircut stories, which made for a hilarious ice breaker. Then as things wrapped up, we were asked a ‘Check-Out’ question. We had to state what we were grateful for. I’ve heard and read a lot about the benefits of pinpointing daily gratitude, and it really was a great way to kickstart new and beneficial habits.
One major thing I’m feeling grateful for lately is the opportunity to really follow my career dreams. When I left my 9-5, I began my own social media consulting business because the prospect of blogging full time didn’t even seem like a feasible option. The experience was honestly incredible. I pushed myself far outside of my comfort zone and learned really valuable things like balancing client relations, crucial time management skills, smart finances and filing taxes, creative freedom, how to pivot from original plans, and most importantly, when to walk away. I ended last year with too many jobs, a lack of focus, and unfortunately my health greatly suffered. As much as I convinced myself that I took lots of ‘me time’, I really hadn’t and I was foggy mentally and not taking care of myself like I should be.
I spent the end of last year reflecting, searching, and making some big decisions. The result is here, at this little corner of the internet. I’m going to be primarily focusing on the blog and it just feels so darn right! I have big ideas and plans and can’t wait to really work hard at getting the best, authentic content out to you guys consistently. I feel a sense of excitement about my work that I haven’t felt for a really long time. And I’m finally emerging from the fog and really making sure I get healthy again. Big things are about to happen and I’m SO happy I get to share this with all of you! xoxo
