The idea for the new room was “my vintage heart”, incorporating vintage pieces with modern pretty pieces that I love. I have focused on adding small touches, thanks to inspiration from other design blogs!
I had to fetch my old vintage vanity from my parent’s house because I knew it would perfectly fit the theme in my new place. I had originally wanted to paint it and re-cover the cushion, but my roommates talked me out of it, saying they liked the authentic feel of the dark wood and vintage fabric. I seriously don’t know how I lived without my vanity for a year at the other place! There are other great vanities at this Vanity site including some in white, the colour I wanted to paint my vanity (perhaps I will be doing a giveaway with them soon…hint hint)
This gorgeous chandelier lamp was given to me for free from Andrea the other day.
Me: “Wow Andrea I love this lamp it’s so pretty!”
I offered to pay for it because I desperately needed a floor lamp and the Ikea one I bought for $16 just wasn’t visually appealing. She insisted that I take it, so I definitely owe her one! I could pay you back in free babysitting ADZ 😛
The idea of scarves in a bucket is from Sarah Richardson’s Cottage. I have one bucket of scarves, one of belts, and one with all my hair products (blow dryer etc.) The magnet butterflies that you see throughout my room were a purchase from a small home decor boutique.
I originally thought I’d get rid of my desk but I ended up just using it as more of a place to decorate rather than a traditional desk. I’m left with the dilemma of finding the perfect vintage chair. It’s quite awkward trying to type on the computer while standing.
My desk essentials: a digital picture frame, my favourite fashion books, colour coordinated Ikea magazine holders/boxes, a Q from Urban Outfitters (for my name), small figurines that Adam has given me over the years…
…easily accessible pens and scissors, a Hello Kitty calendar (on the wrong month…oops!), an old school photo of my family, a photo of my grandparents, my fave books, a vintage key, a fake flower (it was for a school project don’t judge), a pic of Austin, and some candles.
I loved your room. I should have paid more attention to all the little details when I was there last but clearly we were way too busy talking… also, I was glasses/contactless haha.
PS.. you WOULD have a Hello Kitty calendar haha
I just found your blog & it's pretty adorable! Always happy to find other Canadian bloggers! & cute room!
Dammit your place looks better in a month than mine has in a year and a half!! I really need to stop paying more attention to my closet than my home haha
the new place is looking good! love that chandelier lamp that you got from your friend – how nice! and i love how you have your desk organized with all those boxes. your room looks so cozy 🙂
i am so obsessed with interior decorating i could just sit and look at pictures of people's rooms for hours. yours is adorable. there is something so special about a room that is 100 percent you. nothing better then feeling at home. i look forward to more pictures, so please post more ok!! <3
Way to not give me cred for the scarves in a bucket! WHORE!
Aww I love it all! I can't to be in a place that actually feels like mine so I can decorate. xo
I'm so glad you all like my room decor , I agree that I'm such a sucker for pictures of other people's interior design.
Kate-welcome and thank for leaving a comment! Your fashion blog is great…defs checking back!
Danielle-I KNEW you'd chirp me for not giving you cred! Let me correct my original statement: "the scarf bucket idea is from DANIELLE who saw it on Sarah Richardson's cottage"…better?
Love the photos!! You're making me want to totally redo my house… especially if I can do so in a manner which will incorporate scarves in a bucket and a vanity … I don't have one, and having seen yours I now one! 😉
