I’m constantly browsing Pinterest looking for new hairstyles to try. Even though I’ve freshened things up with a lighter summer colour, it’s now time to start mixing up my go-to styles! I enlisted the help of my friend Nadia Bullock to make a fun half up ‘do that I could easily try again on my own. I can totally picture this hairstyle at all sorts of events this season! Going to recreate this for a summer wedding or bbq for sure, sometimes it’s nice to just get your hair out of your face and not have to fuss.
We started off by determining a middle part and curling my hair, though this is optional based on the look you’d like to achieve. This particular half-up style would look great straight hair, or even natural waves. Next, we created two identical (HA! More like, as close as you can get it without going crazy) french braids on either side. I have very thick locks, so we opted for heftier braids…because we had no choice.
We secured the french braid with a very small invisible elastics, much like these Sephora ones, and then gently pull the plaits to create a thicker looking braid.
An adorable style all on its own, you can also cross the braids and twirl them together into a bun, as shown below!
