Prepare yourself, because today’s post is all about the magic of Grouse Mountain! You might remember when Alex and I went up to Grouse last December to get into the holiday spirit. We knew we had to head up the mountain again this year to spend the morning at The Peak Of Christmas!
I was able to capture some of my favourite photos of the year, including the above shot. That pink sky and the chair lift! I’ve already ordered a print of it for our house, and I’m obsessed! We’d picked a random day for our mountain adventure and not only did it happen to be December 1st, but it was also sunny. Which, might not seem like such a feat, but it rained here for almost 2 straight months, so a morning with sunshine was a lovely surprise. Plus, it turned out (which you might be able to tell from some of the pictures), that Vancouver was covered in a blanket of fog so they didn’t even get to appreciate that sun. Alex and I were able to get private early morning access, where we captured a stunning winter sunrise and enjoyed an incredibly memorable morning.
I’m a sucker for holiday lights, which is why the Light Walk is a must! It’s a very easy stroll along a snowy path with gorgeous strung lights. Essentially, it’s one giant Instagram photo op!
Not only is Santa on site, but so are his reindeer! This year, the resident reindeer are Prancer and Dancer. They love their food and nicely posed for a pictures for us. Seriously, the coolest, kids must go crazy for the reindeer!
We always have to grab a coffee at the chalet, especially after such an early start. They have a great view from the patio there too, I love how my wider angle lens captured it.
Last year we tried snowshoeing, so this time we rented ice skates instead. It was all a bit shaky at first, but it was so fun to skate around and doing so early in the morning meant that the ice was relatively quiet! We didn’t end up visiting Santa at his Workshop, but did take a quick spin around Elf HQ in the chalet. Love all the family friendly activities, you simply can’t help but feel festive on the mountain!
I definitely recommend layering up for your local mountain adventure, which I will touch more on in a post later on this week. Thanks to Grouse for another wonderful look at The Peak Of Christmas, can’t wait to go back again soon!
