Compared to my summer ‘no makeup makeup’ look, the winter face is about a little more drama. At this time of year, I’m always looking for more coverage (I’m still on the hunt for a great foundation, any recommendations?). I love an everyday winged liner because I’m basic like that, but have been playing around with eyeshadows too. It’s fun to take something (makeup) that I’m not very experienced in and commit to trying to master it. And by master it, I just mean learn your basic skills but be okay at them.
I’ve discovered some really great products along the way that you can shop below:
I was never one for palettes. It seemed that every time I had one, I’d use a couple of the colours and the rest would remain untouched forever. This MAC ‘Amber Times Nine’ Eyeshadow Palette is incredible though! I think I’ve already used every single colour and I’ve only had it a week. They seem to be pigmented the right amount for me, since I’ve had problems with other eyeshadows being a little too sheer. I’d apply them and it’s like my eyelid just sucks in all the colour and it no longer appeared that I had shadow on at all. Maybe that’s why I stopped bothering with eyeshadow. Anyway, the MAC palette is worth every penny and would make SUCH a great Christmas gift idea for someone!
I have been a Voluminous loyalist for many, many years. I’ve tried other mascaras, and nothing has compared…until now. The Lancome Grandiose Extreme Mascara lengthens and thickens lashes. It doesn’t crumble or do too much clumping. I’ve been really happy with it, the fact that you can see lash definition in the photo below is incredible! That’s just with curling and then a couple coats.
Going for a heavier eye, I like to keep my lip colour a bit lighter. I’ve been loving the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in both Nude Kate (pictured here) and Hepburn Honey. For nude lipsticks, they both provide the right amount of slight pink tones so that my lips/face don’t seem completely washed out.
The other product I can’t stop using is the Makeup Revolution Blush Palette. I know, I know, it’s another palette. But, the price is right (I think it’s $10) and I feel like an artist when dabbing my blusher brush in different colours and then painting them on my cheeks.
