lace dress, earrings, and ruffle purse from plum // skirt and bracelet from h&m // black cami from aritzia // faryl robin shoes from dakota group sample sale // black satin belt from my craft bin // red revlon lipstick
went to the salon (which adam pronounces in the most ridiculous french accent btw) last week to get a routine trim, but ended up cutting off a significant amount of hair. had a classic meltdown at first, but i think that was in part because of how it was styled. we had attempted a blowout, but with the new length it turned into more of a rachel cut from the 90’s. in an effort to fix it, i straightened the crap out of it which only made the new length even more shocking. thankfully, i have curled it myself and actually really like the new ‘do. it feels a lot lighter and healthier, very refreshing!
with a super limited budget, i’ve had to improvise my holiday party outfits using the already existing contents of my closet. in order to give my black lace dress a new look, i actually layered a black chiffon skirt over top of the dress and tied it together with a piece of black satin ribbon as a belt. Many people don’t think to put a skirt over a dress, but if executed right, it can look super cute! makes me feel like i’m wearing a brand new dress and people are actually really impressed with my layering abilities. or so they tell me to my face… π
Amazing! You look fabulous as always! xoxo
Love this outfit! So smart to layer the chiffon skirt over the dress, it looks like it was meant to be.
You hair looks so gorgeous (and healthy!) I am sure it was a shock but it looks great.
Especially loving that last shot-

Alicia, you're so pretty!
It's scary how in synch our minds are. I got my hair cut recently too (3" off the end and some all-over layering…like you, I feel like my hair is a lot healthier and lighter). Plus, I used the wear-a-skirt-over-a-dress trick in my last outfit post.
I love Faryl Robin shoes, the heels are a dead giveaway, they are so unique and cool!

You look gorgeous as always! I always forget to mention… whenever you cut off significant amounts of hair, sometimes the hair acts up for a few days to a week. The weight off the ends is a bit of a shock so the hair doesn't really know what to do with itself. It's not so bad for most people but for people who have really thick hair like yours it makes a huge difference. Asian hair is also another factor of it. Couldn't quite tell you quite tell you why but it happens all the time. My hair sucks for a few days or so after I get it cut and then it gets nice again.
I love what you did to re-use an older piece! So creative and it looks awesome! I would never have known it was a skirt over a dress. π xoxo!
loooove the belt, and shoes!
Girl in the Poodle Shoes
Love the new hair, Alicia! I'm due for a haircut, too, but I will most likely get a small trim and freshen up the layers.
If you hadn't told me that you layered the skirt over the dress, I would have thought it was a dress! I love the holidays because it gives me a chance to dress a little more glamorous and edgier than I would at school. Hope your week is off to a great start!
that outfit is super cute and the shoes provide the perfect pop of color!
Alicia you look gorgeous!! I love this outfit – so pretty & festive and that bold red lip looks amazing on you!
Your hair looks great!
And what a great remix for your dress and skirt π

I would never have guessed that you were wearing a skirt over a dress, but I love the results! And your fresh new haircut is gorgeous- it seems like everyone is going short lately, I'm too terrified to do it myself but you pull it off beautifully. Especially with your bright lip and those shoes. I think I've waxed poetic about them before, but seriously. They are to die for!

So pretty Alicia. Your hair looks so amazing! It's always such a shock getting a hair cut but it really looks gorgeous (and as other have said… healthy!).
And you're my hero for layering the dress and skirt. My budget is being murdered right now by Christmas so the idea of shopping for Christmas outfits is scary! Love how this turned out.

Love the all black ensemble paired with a bright shoe, red lip, and neutral clutch -ah, stunning as always Alicia!! As for the new hair?! I think it looks amazing, and I'm with you, I've had several melt downs after my hair gets styled at a salon – usually takes a few days to get your hair back/get used to a new length! I love that you paired something sexy like lace with a really sweet skirt-such a great holiday outfit!
And don't worry about the hair-I've had that happen to me many times. Last year I went to get my regular red colour, but my stylist decided to be more adventurous without telling me….as she's washing my hair I hear her say "This red intensifier looks great!" Needless to say, I panicked when I saw how bright my hair was. But after a couple of weeks it really grew on me, and now I actually get my hair done that colour all the time! π Once you learn to style it you'll be fine. It looks great though!
Your hair looks beautiful! It is always hard to get used to a change but I think this is a good one!
Love the pop of turquoise in those cute little pumps btw
love this outfit! and the shoes, are so rad! happy holidays!
