My final post at vitaminwater is about one of my favourite Vancouver neighbourhoods, Yaletown. I’ve had so much fun guest blogging for vitaminwatercanada and hope to have similar adventures in the future. Thanks again to all of you for reading and commenting, it means the world to me xoxo
Adam and I took last Friday off work to go spend a long weekend breathing in the fresh island air. We stayed at a fairly new place called Black Rock Resort in Ucluelet, BC. It’s about 3 hours from the Nanaimo ferry and very close to Tofino. The drive in itself is worth the trip. The views (shown at the beginning and end of the video below) along the highway are breathtaking, like looking at a painting come to life! Black Rock Resort was also beautiful and gave a sense of privacy like a cabin, but with all the bonuses of staying at a resort. We spent our 4 days relaxing, storm watching, walking on the beach, sitting in the hot tub, cooking delicious meals, and enjoying each others company. I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend even if I tried.

For years Barefoot Contessa has been on of my favourite Vancouver shopping destinations. Walking into Barefoot is like walking into the closet you’ve always dreamed of since you were a little girl. And trust me, it’s nearly impossible to leave the store empty handed! You can only imagine my excitement when they contacted me and asked if I’d like to style their window as part of a collaboration with local fashion bloggers. Following such amazing blogging talent such as The Anthology, Le Mode Du Jour, Miss Melissa, I’m The It Girl, Carolina Closet Full of Nothing, A Haute Mess, and Prairie Girl In The City was extremely intimidating! You can check out their blogs to see their window amazingness.
After a ton of brainstorming, I decided to do my window in a party theme. Think sparkles, glitz, and Holiday chic. November is my birthday month and the beginning of event season, so it’s the perfect time to be searching for great party looks! Myself and Elim of The Style Seen have our window displays up until Wednesday November 10th.
Here is a little teaser of what I did for the window at Barefoot Contessa at Main and 21st…
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but I am going to be Maid of Honor for the first time next year. My best friend Jessica is getting married in Hawaii in November of 2011 and her mom is a destination wedding planner! We got tickets courtesy of Jeweliette to attend Creme de la Creme at the Four Seasons yesterday. I had a blast (and a touch of wedding fever) looking at all the amazing displays, especially the fashion show by Blush and Bisou bridal boutiques. I went with all the Hyatt girls, but we greatly missed fellow bridal party member (and bff) Vanessa who couldn’t make it 🙁
Here are just a few pictures of our day of Creme de la Creme. Lots of pretty things, front row views of their fashion show, and girly fun!

This particular gathering was to celebrate the Joe Fresh Style flagship store opening in Vancouver at 540 Granville Street. Apparently when J. Fresh throws a party, they really throw a party! I was rubbing elbows with Vancouver’s fashion elite, as well as some big fashion players from the East. Bands that had performed in a free outdoor concert on Granville Street earlier in the afternoon were there, even Trevor Linden made a cameo appearance!
My rule is to always leave a party while I’m still having a lot of fun. Amongst the end of the night dance party, I knew it was my cue to leave when model/musician/totally cool chick Irina Lazareanu grabbed my hips and pushed me into a conga line. I can officially cross ‘doing a conga line with a super model’ off my to-do list in life!!!

I had an amazing time at the Joe Fresh VIP Party on Saturday, thank you so much to everyone who was a part of putting on such a great event! Especially Lisa, who made sure I was spoiled with a swag bag on my way out (including a feather down jacket and a mini makeup kit)!
The biggest thanks goes to Nicole who brought me to the party and was the perfect date! It was great to see so many familiar faces and meet even more great Vancouverites. Hope to see you all again soon xo
Noir Lash Lounge glues individual eyelashes in between yours to make them look completely natural. You leave with thicker, longer lashes that you don’t have to fuss over. You can choose your lashes to be as realistic or dramatic as you wish, and the girls there are more than willing to help you choose what suits your eyes.
As I was laying there and Crystal was taping my bottom lashes down my eyes started twitching uncontrollably. As someone who cannot touch my eye, put eye drops in, or have anyone else put mascara on me, I started thinking this eyelash business may not have been the best idea. Luckily for me, Crystal was very accommodating and just told me to relax and spoke to me about other things as a distraction. Soon enough the shaking stopped and she was able to put the lashes on no problem!
After having my eyes closed for what felt like maybe 20 minutes, we were finally ready to open my eyes and see the magic. WOW times a hundred! I feel like a celebrity with these lashes on. Waking up and looking like I have makeup on already is an absolute dream come true!
Thanks again Noir Lash Lounge, I shall be back to see you soon 🙂
Anyone who is at all into theatre knows the value in a good quality play. When we arrived at Studio 16, which is tucked away between Granville Street and Fir at 7th, the venue was noticeably small. It’s attached to a quaint and extremely busy restaurant, with only a small table at the front with concession items, including beer and wine that they allow you to take into the theatre! The inside of Studio 16 felt like I’d just stepped into a small New York theatre with only about 6 rows of seating, forcing you to feel like you’re practically in the play as well. The intimate setting was perfect for this production, which I decided that I like more than most movies I’ve seen lately. Within the first 15 minutes, Blue Surge had me completely encompassed in the happenings of the actors, and no…it wasn’t because of the full frontal male nudity 😛
The actors were all so accurately cast, their lines and mannerisms executed perfectly and most importantly, believable. For $18, you wouldn’t expect the attention to detail that Blue Surge delivers, but as I’ve mentioned, my expectations were exceeded. Every last set component from the lighting and music, to their costume details and props made the play’s atmosphere worth far more than you pay for.
I don’t usually shamelessly promote like this, but I enjoyed the evening so much I felt like I had to blog about it RIGHT away to infom my Vancouver readers! I do honestly recommend it for an inexpensive night of laughs, drama, and fun, but it’s only playing for another week and a half so get your tickets right meow!
Sabrina Evertt is the Producer and Director of Blue Surge, as well as Founder and Artistic Producer of Twenty-Seomthing Theatre. Sabrina isn’t just a pretty face, this girl has drive, creativity, and an abundance of talent. Plus, I may or may not have been in love with her outfit choice for the play’s premiere. The romantic ruffle dress, her black t-strap 20’s inspired shoes, and her double key necklaces…I die! Great work Sabrina, the plays just keep getting better!
Blue Surge is playing at Studio 16, on West 7th (just off Granville Street) from August 26th to September 5th Tuesday-Sunday at 8 pm. More information here.

I met Carolina, Vanessa, and Brandi at Society in Yaletown for a much needed girl’s night. We were lucky enough to snag a seat outside, where we got to catch up on gossip, hear about Lina’s trip to China, and get the details on B’s latest dating adventures. I’d never been to Society before, but I highly recommend it! My pizza looked so good that the table of girls beside us asked me what I was eating! We even got a chance to go see Carolina’s apartment and pay a visit to J and Pinky.
This morning I went to leave for work and my car didn’t start. It wasn’t surprising, considering I accidentally leave my car lights on all the time. BCAA saved the day, but then I was told I had to drive around for 2 hours so you can imagine how late for work I was! I think I’m going to blame Friday the 13th for any unusual events today.
It’s supposed to be a beautiful weekend though, so I hope you all have a chance to get outside and enjoy it XOXO
How was YOUR weekend?
