Can you believe this spot is just a few hours away from the city?  I love how we can hop in the car for a bit and be completely transported to another world.  Nicola Lake is so beautiful in the fall, and on private lakefront property, it’s unbelievably silent.  You could hear a pin drop as we stood on the beach and when you breathe in the fresh air, you just can’t help but feel full of gratitude and a sense of calm.  A reminder that amongst the daily chaos, we must take a moment to just breathe and be still.

It’s already happening.  That time of year when all I want to do is wear all black.  This struggle against my wardrobe must be stopped this year.  Why not be the one who wears gold sequins to the party, or iridescent blush pants in Whistler Village?  Honestly, it’s time to brighten things up this winter and avoid getting stuck on the colour wheel!  It was fun stepping outside of my comfort zone with these light coloured bottoms (and skinnies at that).  They’re really nice too, I suspect that I’ll be wearing them all year round.  Decided to pair them with my cozy cat sweater and new favourite wine coloured coat to complete this weekend casual look.
Just because it’s fun to see how we all interpret the same item, you’ll have to take a look at how Cee of Coco and Vera and Alex of To Vogue Or Bust styled the same piece on the American Eagle blog!
P.S. Our Whistler day trip was kind of the best because it involved the first snowfall of the season, a peppermint mocha, and scouting a possible wedding venue.  Pretty sure I need to go back ASAP.  Not to ski or snowboard though, just to walk around the village in cute outfits…duh!

My Visa and I can always justify purchasing a new hat.  Especially a wool fedora, and ESPECIALLY a wool fedora that Her Waise Choice picked as one of her French Connection favourites.  Got a sweet little discount on it and everything.  Visa and I are very pleased.
Now join me on a nostalgic trip back to the 90’s with this tune. Sheryl had it right, you guys!

Almost as much as I’d always fantasized about one day visiting Paris, I felt just as strongly about seeing the South of France.  We agonized for months about where along the coast we’d go, which feels completely overwhelming when you’ve never been to a place before.  You do everything you can not to make “the wrong” decision.  We’re so thankful to all of you for your suggestions, they definitely helped guide us to what ended up being best for us: Antibes, France.

We splurged for first class train tickets for the 5 hour ride from Paris to Antibes via Merseille.  Money well spent I tell ya!  The only thing we hadn’t factored in, was that the food on the train was mediocre at best and so on the way back we’d loaded up on fresh pastries and sandwiches instead.  But hey, you live and you learn!  As soon as that coastline was in view, we knew we’d arrived in paradise.  For the same price as a small room several blocks away from the beach in Nice (which we were seconds away from booking at one point) we got top floor at a waterfront hotel in Antibes.  Their sandy beaches and rustic buildings were exactly what I’d always envisioned in the South of France.  It honestly couldn’t have worked out any better.

Once we got settled, we went out for a walk at magic hour and then back to the room to quickly change for a patio dinner.  Even though it was a simple first day there, it was so special in its own way.  Looking at these pictures, I wish I could transport us back there, even if it were just for an evening like this.

Just a little slice of heaven on Nicola Lake.  I’m feeling completely recharged and super thankful that Adam’s fam is kind enough to let us stay at their cabin every once in a while.  Labour Day weekend was the perfect summer sendoff!

P.S. Thanks to Jessica for recommending ‘Wild’ by Cheryl Strayed.  The writing is superb, the story is enthralling, and you’ll only better yourself by reading it (if you haven’t already).  Honestly, I think you’ll love it!

Our final day in Paris also happened to be the first day of their summer sale season.  Kismet?  I sure thought so!  Cee took us to Cafe St. Regis for breakfast and then we continued on into Le Marais for lots and lots of shopping!  We both ended up with goodies from Maje and even had a celebrity sighting when Liya Kebede walked past us and smiled (and she was in sweats and still looked absolutely stunning – ugh).  After a visit to the gorgeous Musee Carnavalet, Adam and I freshened up and made our way to Montmartre.  We walked the many stairs to see Sacré Cœur in all its glory and then had a positively delicious meal at L’Afghani.  It was a perfect last day in the city of love.
I know I’ve been taking my time with these vacation posts, but it’s so lovely to relive our travels months later.  Paris was such a dream come true, so glad we got to visit.  Up next is the South of France!

It’s like an online reality show and I just can’t stop reading about this dating experiment.
Looking outside at the grey sky and I’m pretty excited that I just purchased this beauty.

Extra, extra!  Some Deighton Cup Darlings in Framework Magazine.

I will not rest until these stunners are mine.

Okay but really, who else is excited for fall?

My blog crush this week is Tobruck Ave because she’s all kinds of amazing.

Happy Friday xo

Let’s take this Throwback Thursday all the way back to OSHEAGA!  Being the RACHEL Rachel Roy fashion correspondent was such a unique experience.  Dressed to impressed each day, meeting new people, scouting streetstyle, and handing out sweet coupons, all while enjoying amazing concerts at this country’s coolest festival?!  Best. Time. Evarrrr!  Was a delight meeting fellow RRR gals Erin from The Kit and Anik from Montreal In Style.  And the adventure wouldn’t have been complete with meeting up with Surinda and my pal Erin of Haus of Hybrid.  But let’s face it, I owe it all to those lovelies at NKPR.  Their campaigns are the creme de la creme of PR and I’m just grateful to be able to work with such an amazing team.
Also, a big huge thank you to everyone who entered the RACHEL Rachel Roy x Hudson’s Bay Giveaway.  The winners were Lien and Andrea of The Soulcialite – can’t wait to see what they choose!  As for the rest of you, I’ve got some more killer giveaways coming up so stay tuned.

Sometimes a great city like Paris required you to go back to the basics and rock some simple black and white.  The trouble with our time there was the unusually cold weather.  Please note everyone in the above photo and how covered up they are.  But, you know what?  I suffered through it to look fabulous, because that’s what you do for fashion 😉
