I love the colour blocking that I’ve been seeing this spring. The bold colour combinations are so fun, and I’ve been anxious to try it out for myself. It appears though, that I’ll have to take baby steps to achieve a full colour blocking outfit. There’s something intimidating by grabbing the brightest pieces in your wardrobe and wearing all of them…at the same time!
This song is on repeat right now and makes me excited for sunny weather and many more bright coloured outfits 😉 Happy Thursday aka Friday.

aritzia pants // front & co. jacket, purse & ring // forever 21 necklace // aldo wedges
i am obsessing over the navajo inspired print on this jacket. picked it up second hand at front & co., like who on earth would get rid of it? also excited about another new member of the fam; the aritzia pantaloons. my new favourite, i can barely describe my feelings towards them. spent the weekend going through and purging a bunch of stuff, anyone want to come over and buy any of it? i’m only half joking. i think the realization that i have to merge my closet with someone else’s is setting in. it’s all so scary and exciting at the same time. a potentially life changing step in my life. there will be a lot of talk about the move coming up. it’s consuming my thoughts and the source of most of my stress. any closet organizing tips are much appreciated. and seriously, come shop my closet in person, i’ll love you forever!
if you want to register for group interviews on april 18th and 19th, you can mention that in your email as well. when you interview make sure you stand out with outfit choice and charm 🙂 sigh, can you imagine working for anthro? dreams can come true people!
It’s no surprise that the GUESS party last Wednesday was an absolute hit! What an honour to host alongside Olivia of Style Struck, Kelsey of The Anthology, and Niki of A Haute Mess. And it wasn’t just about delicious appies and mojitos. The GUESS event was in support of FITE, an organization designed to foster Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship for women in the developing world. With a $5 donation to FITE, guests were given 20% off their GUESS purchases that evening. My outfit choice for the party was a vintage inspired floral dress from the spring 2011 GUESS collection. I haven’t found a strapless dress that fits the girls me for years, and I can’t wait to wear the dress again in Hawaii later this year. I even added my personal touch with a bow belt, so people could tell it was me!
Meeting so many fabulous people and posing for the camera, for a moment in time I almost felt like a mini celebrity! The turnout was beyond my expectations, and I am so thankful to have met so many amazing people! That includes the lovely Cicy, Tiffany, Rick, Liz, Soha, Erin, Lyndi, Jessica, Monica, Grace, Jen, Justine, Brittany, Tim, Jen, and Ashley. As well as anyone else I met and forgot to mention. Always great seeing my friends Melissa, Jessica, Chloe, Stef, Erin, Holly, Jillian, and Clio. I want to say thank you again to GUESS, especially Lindsay, for such a fantastic opportunity. Being a part of the GUESS event and supporting FITE means the world to me! Thank you as well to everyone who came out to the event, I hope to see you all again very soon. xo
Sample Fur Jacket // Joe Fresh Tee // Mavi Serena Denim Leggings // UO Necklace // Nine West Shoes
It was a clear day in Notting Hill, England and my first time exploring Portobello Market. It was actually my first time ever ‘crossing the pond’. London was a whole new world, a cultural shock to my somewhat limited travel experience. Flea markets in Vancouver cannot even be compared to what lined those narrow city streets. It was a vintage shoppers dream and an antique hunter’s heaven. I wanted to spend days exploring the vendor stands for small treasures and unique finds. But, as afternoon crept into evening, my mom and brother were ready to head back to the hotel for dinner. Just as we turned to leave I saw a stand with the most beautiful display I’ve ever seen. A slew of fur coats in all sorts of colours and prints. I wanted to investigate, I wanted to try them on, and I wanted to purchase one and bring it back home. The fur craze hadn’t hit yet, and I would have been one of the first, an innovator of sorts. But in my moment of weakness, my mother did what mothers do best and talked sense into me. She banned me from packing a fur coat in my already overflowing suitcase and purchasing a winter coat in the first days of summer. So I left the inexpensive original fur coats and headed back to the hotel only to feel the opposite of buyer’s remorse. I felt regret for not purchasing a fur coat, a feeling that I still hold onto to this day.
Since the Portobello Market incident of 2009, I have been too stubborn to purchase a fur coat of any kind here. The ones at vintage stores seem picked over and quite pricey for the quality of product. I found a decent fur vest at Front & Co. last week, but it was big on me and made me look like a bear (I say this with no exaggeration, I really looked like a big scary bear). This was until the other day, when a sample caught my eye at work. The leopard print practically purred at me to try it on. The fabric is the softest faux fur I’ve ever felt and it fit me like a glove (err…coat). The price was cheap right, and I can now say that I am a proud owner of a faux fur coat! And really, I’m so excited to move past my stubborness and have a fur coat to wear while the weather is still cold-ish.
I’m now searching for fun ways to style it. I stumbled upon a lot of all black outfits with red lips, but I am obviously wondering…how do YOU style your fur coat or vest?
Aritzia TNA tee // Vintage Blazer // Mavi Serena Jeans // Steve Madden Boots // Barefoot Contessa Sunnies // Plum Scarf & Beanie // Front & Co. Purse
I had officially given up on styling this cropped TNA tee. In all reality, I wouldn’t consider wearing it with an exposed middle unless it was with something super high waisted. Or if I magically grew abs over night (fingers crossed). When I was over at my friend Andrea’s last weekend, she was showing me how she wears her new Aritzia tops with a white tank underneath. Duh! A white tank under the cropped shirt, how had I never thought of it before? It’s so simple…too simple. I spend all day long at work trying to think of new creative ideas and sometimes it’s the easiest ones that you miss!
I also officially want everything at Aritzia right now. Damnit!
I spent this weekend getting up to the usual shenanigans (I almost missed a typo “shenanigangs” just then, but I assure you I am not affiliated with any gangs!) Adam was out of town all weekend and I saw this as an opportunity to go shopping. But let’s be honest with ourselves, I’ll use any excuse to go shopping. You’re going through a break up? Awesome, let’s hit the mall! You gained 10 lbs and none of your clothes fit? I’m so happy for you, we should go find you a whole new wardrobe. Okay, I obviously kid. I’d never actually take you to the mall after a breakup, that’s a recipe for tears in my Orange Juilius.
Where was I? Right, Saturday afternoon. I planned a morning of Main Street shopping with Melissa and then was going to hit downtown before my hair appointment. Why I feel the need to have the most stereotypically girly weekend while my boyfriend is away, I’ll never figure out. Anyways, I kept running into friends and getting so distracted that I forgot to eat! I was literally so lost in a world of spring florals and platform pumps that didn’t eat my first meal until 6 pm on Saturday. Now, if skipping two meals to shop isn’t logical, then I don’t know what is! Thankfully, the last person I ran into was Lisa who was a fabulous shopping partner and the perfect impromptu dinner date! We caught up on important life details and shared funny stories over a drink and some eats.
It was the opposite of my usually structured Saturday afternoons, but that’s what made it so great. Every time I turned the corner there was a new opportunity; those days are the best!
Dress and Sunnies from Barefoot Contessa // Blazer from a boutique in NYC // Birdcage Necklace made by Shaz // Jeffrey Campbell 99 Booties
Striped Cardigan, Necklace & Belt c/o Plum // Zara Trousers // Forever 21 Sunnies // Consigned Front & Co. Purse // Aldo Wedges
It’s a double post kind of day because I’m craaazy like that! I think this is my new favourite photo spot near Adam’s place. He is actually the one who discovered it, my goodness I’ve taught him well! My advice to anyone out there with a love for photography should teach someone close to you how to use the camera! That way, you’re not missing from every single photo. You wouldn’t believe how many people complain to me that they never have any photos of themselves. You must be creative about it people!
I have a big life announcement coming up soon and lots of outfit posts to catch up on. The weather in Vancouver has been delightfully Spring inspired (except today, today looks like doomsday) so I’ve been taking as many photos as I can! Promise there will be more consistent posting from now on. I’ve been a bad, bad bloggerina lately…forgive me?
