my sincerest apologies for the lack of posts lately. did my best to get outside and take advantage of the sudden warm weather over the last few weeks, which included this super fun day walking around rocky point, port moody. made some time for myself and some exercise. along with work deadlines and fulfilling my bridesmaids duties, i just haven’t had much free time! not to mention that i’ve barely had time to check out anyone else’s recent blog posts. and don’t even get me started on the unanswered emails just haunting me from my inbox! seriously, anyone want to be my summer intern?!
adam had a last minute opportunity to jet off to germany for the weekend. he was lucky enough to get tickets to see the championships league game live in munich, and i’ve been lucky enough to find a bit of time to partake in some super secret (not so secret any more) single girl behaviour while he’s away. this included watching the vow, a mani/pedi, some shopping, blasting music while dancing around/putting outfits together, an all day bridal shower/stagette combo, as well as more pieces of apple pie than i’d like to admit to! feeling rested and so excited to pick him up from the airport tonight!
hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend and i promise, back to a regular blogging schedule this week 🙂
floral dress from the archetype // wilfred chevalier blazer from aritzia // neon pink envelope clutch from zara // belt and cobalt blue shoes from h&m // sunnies from barefoot contessa // glass bead chocker necklace c/o jacob
as soon as i saw this mullet dress (is there another name for it? sounds so offensive…and 80’s) i knew i had to have it! the perfect shade of blue and pretty spring florals. thinking this frock will come in handy his upcoming wedding season, seeing as i have at least five nuptials to attend this year! which by the way, are the perfect excuse to keep buying new outfits.
this look might have been slightly over doing it last week though, when i put this on to go do work at a coffee shop. was definitely the fanciest person in kitsilano on a friday afternoon! oh well, better to be overdressed than too casual, right?
chevron print dress from san fransisco boutique (back in 2010…such an innovator 😛 lol) // olive 3/4 sleeve trench from plum // joe fresh wedge sandals (old) // kate spade windsor square angeline in grey // glass bead chocker necklace c/o jacob // barefoot contessa sunnies // ring from h&m
if you follow me on instagram, you saw what a struggle my very first attempt at a sock bun was. not so easy when you have abnormally thick, layered mufasa hair! after almost seven tries, a couple bobby pins, and some very tired arms, i finally achieved a decent looking bun. and it’s kind of fun to tell people that there’s an actual sock in your bun. great conversation starter!
i am loooving the week of sunshine we experienced this week! had the chance to take some of my favourite summer dresses out for a spin and switch my closet over. (so if we get a freak snow storm next week, you can blame it on me for packing away my winter coats and sweaters). kind of forgot how much i adore this chevron print dress i picked up in san fran! i have trouble styling it with tights, so i always have to wait for warm weather to wear it.
well, tgif my friends. i’m going to make the most these next couple sunny days with a bbq, beach picnic, and the weeknd this weekend (can’t even tell you how long i’ve been waiting to say that). bring on the rays, vancouver! wishing you all the happiest of weekends 🙂
“something else” nautical knot printed blouse from dakota group sample sale // american eagle denim // left on houston tote bag c/o violet hill boutique // white oxfords from top shop // olivia solie necklaces {want to win the SAME ones? enter here} // adam’s nixon watch // sephora lipstick
setting my own schedule as a freelancer has proved to be quite interesting. as do many things in life, it has its ups and downs. sometimes i work too much, never taking breaks or eating meals. i find myself jealous every once in a while when i see people who work 9-5 and can just “turn work off” as soon as they’re home. home is where i work, so it’s kind of like i don’t have an off switch! there are, of course, many perks to working as i please. i can meet a friend, client, or network at pretty much any hour of the day. i can go shopping, to events, i can complete fun side projects. i can even blog more 😉
sometimes if i pop into a shop in the middle of the day, the sales person will ask if i have the day off. since i apparently feel it necessary to tell them my life story, i explain that i work from home. most people’s reaction seems to be that if they worked from home, they’d never get out of their pj’s. i have a rule, you see (albeit a flexible rule, since i’m the one to make them and the only one to record whether or not i stick to them) that i MUST be out of my pajamas by 11 am latest. i absolutely could not survive if i stayed in my sleepwear all day. one woman the other day looked at me in disbelief and exclaimed, “i certainly wouldn’t look as nice as you do if i worked form home”. that, my friends, is a big compliment.
whether it’s catching up with a pal over coffee, yoga class, a dinner date, client meeting, or to simply sit at my coffee table desk to work, i still get dressed. because if i didn’t change out of my pajamas, i couldn’t work from home either! i’d fall into a chocolate coma and sleep forever. which according to my calculations, wouldn’t be very good for business.
this particular outfit has been my staple errand running attire as of late. nothing cuter than some bright lips and comfy footwear while running (sometimes literally) around the city getting things done!
Locally designed and made Olivia Solie jewelry is generously offering you not one, but TWO necklaces!!! The Bolts Chain Necklace and the Antique Coins Chain Necklace, a total value of $175 CDN! I have both of these made for layering necklaces (pictured above) and cannot stop wearing them. They are incredibly versatile and perfect for everyday wear. Want to be fashion twins and wear them as well?
short sleeve cream jacket and navy and white bow print shell blouse from forever21 // coral bb dakota “maddox” coloured denim // assorted silver bangles were a christmas gift from mom // silver belt from plum (old) // silver disco inspired pumps from guess (old) // american apparel nail polishes
hope you’re not sick of these pants, because apparently i went from being scared of coloured denim to fighting the urge to wear them every…single…day! that’s the reality of my closet though. no matter what, i always end up with a few favourites that get remixed more than others.
having a bit of a stretchy pants vs. real clothes battle right now thanks to my lack of gym visits lately. the yoga pants are winning and i know that i just need to find the motivation to get back into a healthy fitness regime. i’ve sorted out some goals for the next few months and fingers crossed that I can stick to it and start feeling good in my clothes again.
what do you do for exercise? how do you stick to your routine?
striped plum zip cardigan (worn backwards) // black chiffon skirt and assorted bracelets from h&m // the most amazing value village shoes find ($7.99 ya’ll) // necklaces c/o olivia solie // my new kate spade bag // flora gold MONIKALOVE bfrend bracelet c/o // hue tights
look at me! out at night, wearing a cardigan backwards and dancing around in someone else’s old shoes. this is about as crazy as life gets lately. please contain your jealousy!
coral tank from aritzia // kelly green kersh cardigan from plum // green and white pencil skirt from anthropologie // charm necklace from urban outfitters // bracelets from h&m // stuart weitzman ‘once’ sandals c/o
my poor, sweet bank account has no idea what is about to happen. as the day has finally come when i spend all of my extra income (ha, juuust kidding. i don’t have any of that) on EVERYTHING j.crew. the american retailer has just opened its second canadian location in vancouver and this city couldn’t be happier!
i was lucky enough to attend a private grand opening before the store opened to the public. but the question was of course, what to wear? i opted for preppy brights, trying to be as j.crew as possible. despite last minute doubt about too much green, i think it turned out and i actually had two j.crew employees compliment my attire. and that, my friends, is the ultimate compliment!
anyway, i am supposed to be “relaxing” on a “weekend vacation” right now, so i should probably go. but, i will leave you with quite possibly my best blooper to date. this was me realizing there was a hair stuck on the bottom of my iced coffee, while the wind blew my skirt everywhere and i was still, for some reason, posing…
