i think that lately i’ve been slightly over thinking things.  questioning outfits, my personal style, and what direction i see this blog going.  but, when i was to attend a crème de la crème le reve preview a few days ago, i decided to stop over-analyzing and just threw on some forgotten favourites.

the end result was an outfit that will go down as one of my all-time favourites.  as i feel like this is the exact feel that i wish i could achieve on a daily basis.  tulle, bows, pearls, and vintage-esq purple pumps?  so many pretty things in one little outfit.

if you were to paint a picture of your personal style, what would your ideal outfit look like?

happy friday my lovelies!  have you noticed a few changes around here?  i gave the ol’ blog a mini makeover on a whim the other day because coral just wasn’t working for me in october.  anyway, just a few things to cover before the long weekend…
i don’t know about you, but i looove getting a glimpse into other people’s houses.  and i mean that in the least creepy way possible.  if you’re curious about my place, check out this super awesome workspace feature that the anthology did about my, well, workspace.
if you follow my facebook page (and if you don’t, stop reading this because we’re temporarily friends off), you probably saw me promoting this angel olsen – acrobat song.  if i were to make a soundtrack of my life, this would definitely be on there.  stunning, i hope you like it.

on a shopping note, been seriously considering this this danier leather jacket for fall. also, we’re excited to have just purchased his and hers warby parker spectacles.

and i wanted to say a big huge thanks to all of you for being awesome…just because 🙂

due to my usual morning coma, i began the day frazzled after sleeping through two hours of my alarm going off (this is not an exaggeration, my old and/or current roommates can attest to this).  put on some of my favourite fall pieces and raced off to a morning coffee meeting with some lovely ladies, where we talked blogging and enjoyed some obviously much needed caffeine.  was feeling cute so we snapped a few outfit photos and then i made my way to gastown for a second coffee meeting with mitch.  this meeting began with a great tour of the office vancouver.  i’ve been seriously considering taking a break from the home office this winter, for ’tis the season when working in pj’s on the couch > putting clothes on and breathing fresh air.  anyway, on this tour of the space, two girls show up at the door holding pictures of albert einstein’s face on sticks.  no seriously, i couldn’t make this up even if i tried.  turns out the einstein masks are part of a campaign their company is doing and the grand prize is a sweet camera.  cross your fingers and toes, would loooove a new cam!  so as we’re getting our paws on this mask, one of the girls is like hey, you’re aliciafashionista!  which is just another reason why i love how close-knit and kind vancouverites are.  then, of course, it turned out the other girl and i sort of knew each other through an old company she worked for.  and all while this revelation is happening, a guy sitting at one of the desks gets up and is like alicia??  it was a guy that i’ve known since i was a toddler, because we grew up on the same cul-de-sac and our moms walk their dogs together every day.  we hadn’t seen each other in years, and there i was with these 4 people in one of those weird moments in time.  kind of made a desk at the office vancouver seem even that much more appealing, right?  so, after this far more eventful than anticipated office tour, mitch and i grabbed coffees at revolver and sat at the sfu woodwards.  had a lovely chat about social media/our businesses and i left the meeting feeling inspired.  as if that wasn’t enough good, i got home to find a few exciting emails and decided to end the day with dinner at foundation and a new episode of new girl.

…because amongst those “meh” days and those genuinely crappy days, there are happy days like today.  when everything goes right, you’re positively invincible and nothing could possibly wipe that smile off your face!  thank you to everyone who made today day an extra awesome one, and here’s to hoping one of those kind of days happens for you soon too 🙂

As seen on the FASHION Magazine Style Panel:

I’m a recent convert to the world of oversized clothing.  Since I’m technically top heavy, I’d always assumed that it just wasn’t the look for me. But, I’ve recently learned that the beauty of oversized pieces is that they’re full of styling possibilities! Using the power of accessorizing, I try to break up this often boxy silhouette with a long necklace, scarf, or belt.  This magically centres the outfit and counters any perceived added width.  To complete this cozy autumn look, all you need is a pair of skinny denim for balanced proportions, and a large cup of hot chocolate for warmth and deliciousness!

And don’t forget to check out how the other bloggers rocked the boxy look!

it’s confession time.  it has been slighlty less motivating to get dressed in the am, since the contents of my closet are currently strewn all over the apartment.  adam has now nicknamed me “the hurriquan”, as it looks like a hurricane blew through our apartment and left it in a state of emergency.  purses in the living room, clothes on the floor, jewellery on the desk, shoes…well, shoes are just everywhere.

it’s time to tackle the mess.  any hurriquan preparedness/closet organizing tips you could share?

Last Thursday was Vancouver’s very first Fashion’s Night Out.  Joining forces with To Vogue Or Bust, Prairie Girl In The City, and Her Waise Choice, we set off to find out what FNO was all about.
Starting out at a lovely cocktail reception at Secret Location, limos then picked everyone up to escort us to our next destination.  We decided to head to the fashion show, where to be honest, things ran a little long.  But, perhaps I was just extra impatient because I was standing in heels for an hour and a half.  We did, however, see some really great lines and got some great Fall wardrobe inspiration!
After the show, we caught a limo back up to Robson Street and started shopping!  I’ve concluded that FNO is like Halloween for fashionable adults.   Rather than costumes, we all decked out in fashionable outfits. Instead of collecting candy (although in some cases, still candy), we were given drinks at each store. And most importantly, we’d all meet in the streets and compare which store was doing what and who had the best party.
It was great running into Solo Lisa, Rick Chung, A Fashion Love Affair, Starving Stylist, Lil Fashionisto , and an absolute pleasure to finally meet Joy Pecknold.  The night was really fun (you can’t go wrong with fashionable adult Halloween) and I can’t wait for next year, when FNO Vancouver will hopefully be even bigger and better!
