It’s time for the last giveaway of the year, brought to you by local cuties, me + you bags.  Made with eco-friendly materials such as recycled textiles, oganic cotton, and vegan leather, these bags are crafted with love right here in Vancouver.  Each bag features a wooden heart that says, “Don’t forget about me + you…” as a reminder to always bring your reusable bag!  I’m especially loving their custom bag designs, as well as their holiday tote bag bows,. Thinking I need to get my hands on some branded bags with bows asap!

Deck Your Closet was a great success and I want to thank every single person who sponsored the event, helped out the day of, showed up to do some serious shopping, and of course, to my fellow members of The Style Common for putting in so many hours of hard work and planning.  The fact that we somehow threw this together in about 5 weeks is incredible, and a true testament to the talent and drive Jen P., Alex, and Jen T. all posses.  Would also like to say a BIG thanks to The Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver for letting us host the event in your beautiful Seasons room.  It was the perfect venue.

I think that many people don’t know what to expect at these clothing sales.  They often explain to me the day-of that they’re just floored by the quality of the event and of course, of the killer prices of the clothing.  Hearing such positive feedback makes me so happy and proud to be part of such an awesome local community.

If you missed this shopping event, not to worry!  We’ll be having our annual Spring Vancouver Blogger Sale again in March.  More info coming your way in the new year!  Thanks again to everyone involved in Deck Your Closet.  What a fun, memorable day! xo

My loafers (Hugh Hefs, we call them) seem to be the best investment I’ve made
all year.  As I race around the city all day it seems to be that that cute high heels 
are a thing of the past!  December is just especially crazy, I haven’t even thought
about Christmas shopping yet.  How do you survive the Holidays?

Yesterday, I was racing around trying to meet deadlines and get everything done
in a nearly impossible time frame, when I was interrupted by Adam.  “We’re
leaving for the show in 15 minutes” he told me.  “What show?” I asked, barely looking
up from my computer screen. “The Lumineers,” he replied, “you’re the one who
bought the tickets, remember?”  It was difficult to mask how annoyed I was that
I’d have to put my work aside for a few hours.  There already weren’t enough hours
in the day, how could I possibly justify going out and having fun?  In that sense,
being an entrepreneur can feel like that student stress and I take on unnecessary
guilt for partaking in anything that isn’t work related.


I begrudgingly threw on whatever clothes weren’t put away from the day before
and Rob and Jo picked us up a few minutes later.  I’ve been so busy lately
that I hadn’t even researched any of The Lumineers music and was ashamed
to say that I only knew two of their songs going into the evening.  When we
arrived, the opening act was on and we found seats at the back of the theatre.
Listening to the first act, I was sure I knew that voice and instantly started
questioning everyone around me, even though they knew just as much as I did
about this brand, which was nothing.  “Is this Y La Bamba?” I asked, “They
sound JUST like Y La Bamba.”  After a little Twitter research, it was true.
I was unknowingly watching a band I really liked perform, and so my attitude
about the evening instantly changed.  After a great Y La Bamba fix (how many
times can I say Y La Bamba in one post?) The Lumineers came out to show
Vancouver an amazing time.


I’ve never done drugs and can tell you honestly, that concerts are my high.
The Lumineers put on an absolutely breathtaking show that brought me
to my hand clapping, foot stomping happy place!  If you don’t know them
beyond Ho Hey, get their cd now.  And if you ever get the chance to see
them perform live, do it.  I can’t believe that I considered, even if it were for
just a second, skipping out on the show.  That would have had regret written
all over it.  I ended up having a great night singing and dancing with friends,
which is exactly what The Lumineers are all about!

Not sure if it’s because I’ve been hanging out in Gastown so often, but 
I’ve been crazy into menswear lately.  I adore the clean lines and simplicity
of it all.  Sometimes simple and chic is the hardest to achieve.
I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and put my own little spin on
an outfit inspired by the boys.  I could definitely get used to wearing socks
with my flats and actually keeping my feet warm! Doesn’t seem like a 
look I’ll be wearing often, but it sure was fun to play dress up for a day 🙂
