The truth of the matter, is that today has actually brought on the always traditional Spring Showers.  The rain is back, but who cares because WE MADE IT!  Together, we have survived those cold and dark days of winter and are moving right on to sunshine and picnics.  Okay, it’s a little too cold to picnic now but this girl is definitely wishing for an early patio season.  Wishing you all a lovely first day of spring!

Right, so about last week.  Things got a little bit 16 hour work days crazy.  I had to write on our kitchen chalkboard “It will all work out – it always does” in order to convince myself that this wouldn’t be the one time that things sadly didn’t go well!  Not to worry, we all survived the insanity and I have since treated myself to a few sleep-ins and netflix marathons.  It’s back to the usual grind now and tomorrow I’ll share a little teaser about the exciting project that ate up so much of my time.  Hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend xo

I’ve slowly (but surely) been pulling spring pieces out of my closet and gradually integrating them back into my wardrobe.  Plus, painting your nails bright orange is basically challenging the sun to make an appearance, and it seemed to work.  Sunshine and longer days is just what the doctor ordered!

An over-the-top Baz Luhrmann style interpretation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘The Great Gatsby’?  Yes, please!  I’m so ready to finally see the movie, and not just for Leo.  I also can’t get enough of the 20’s style: feathers, sequins, and jewels galore!  It’s going to be amazing!

Confession: I LOVE The Carrie Diaries.
I know it’s nowhere near the greatness that was Sex and The City, but it almost fills that void in the meantime.  Anna Sophia Robb is so charismatic and though I don’t know if I necessarily associate her with being Carrie, I love her just the same. Sure it can be a little silly and historically inaccurate, but if you haven’t watched already, I suggest starting from the beginning and giving it a try.  Oh, and did I mention that her crush, Sebastian, is also super hunky and apparently dating Vanessa Hudgens in real life?!  I mean, way to go Vanessa!
Between watching Girls and The Carrie Diaries, I’m more motivated than ever to do more writing.  I dug up my old notebooks last night and got lost in my old stories and poems.  So much teenage angst and boy drama, it’s just hilarious.  I’ll be sure to post tidbits this week.  Do you love writing?  How do you get into your creative writing ‘zone’?!

It seems that freelancing, personal branding, and starting your own business is the hot career path at the moment.  While it provides many freedoms and benefits, I’m often torn about what to wear to things like coffee dates, client meetings, and networking events.  After over a year of this new lifestyle, I’ve found my balance!  Along the lines of this exact outfit, I mix and match business casual appropriate pieces with comfortable footwear…always comfortable footwear.  I make a point of also including something “fun” or trendy so clients know that I’m up on all the latest and greatest.  Lastly, it boils down to looking well put together, as it goes for almost any career setting.
What’s your workplace dress code like?

Let’s be completely honest, I’ve never sported a bare midriff.  I actively chose not to participate in those phases of crop tops and bellybutton rings.  Yet, the other day, in the middle of winter, I threw on a pair of high waisted trousers and a cropped tie front blouse.  Staring back at my in the mirror was a little too much skin for a February day – and I liked it!  It’s almost a play on the cut-out trend we’ve seen in recent months but in a far more comfortable way for me.  There’s something extra sexy about showing just a tiny bit of skin in an unexpected way!  I can’t wait to rock this look a lot more when it’s actually warm out and appropriate attire 😉
