Flying out of Heathrow has some major advantages.  For one, their convenience stores have Grazia magazine, as well as those delightful and addictive little Haribo candies.  This particular airport also gives you the option to shop some of your favourite brands at discounted prices, as they withhold which gate you have to report to until moments before you must be there.  It is both a blessing and a curse for an anxious flier like myself.  Back in July when we were heading back to Vancouver, I felt a little extra nervous as we paced around Heathrow.  I headed straight for Zara to calm my nerves, because we all know what a little retail therapy can do for the soul. Though, I don’t remember much after that, as I disappeared into a haze of animalistic shopping instincts.  It started with a rack of discounted leather jackets, which is of course, when I picked out this motorcycle-esque number.  Things didn’t stop there.  I brushed Adam aside as I blew through the store like a tornado, determined to find as much as possible on sale.  A moment where Adam witnessed what he describes as “a side of me he’s never seen before.”  After my Zara damage, we proceeded to head over to Ted Baker where I managed to spend the last of my British pounds on a floral maxi dress.  I boarded our flight that day with an extra large shopping back containing a pair of sunglasses, a beaded blouse, a leather jacket, and an unnecessarily formal summer dress.
The best part is, that though I adore the jacket, it’s not necessarily something I would have purchased had I not been in a crazed state.  I’m trying my best to style it up though, as it haunts me every time I open our front closet.  Do you have any pieces you buy just because they’re on sale and you later regret?  It happens to me more often than I’d like to admit.

This is it – the uniform as of late.  Some ripped denim, as much black as possible, something leopard print and/or fur.  That’s just fall 2013 in a nutshell!  What are you wearing non-stop lately?

At 10 pm one night last week, I was like hmm right now would be THE perfect time to completely pull apart and re-organize our closets.  Because, you know, what you think will only take a few hours turns into you having to carve out a body-sized spot on the bed for you to sleep and then to continue on for most of the next day.  But hey, it looks great!  I also feel like I have an entirely new wardrobe, which is what I always try to tell myself when I’m mid-project looking at an impossible pile of things to sort and wishing I’d never started.  It’s ALWAYS worth it!

Holding a pumpkin is about as themed as things are going to get this year.  Totally ran out of time to get any sort of costume together!  I feel like if I don’t start in like August that it’s a scramble.  That’s okay in this day and age though, because I can just live vicariously through everyone’s spooky and creative instagrams.

I had so much fun with Christie making the trek out to the burbs for these photos.  That beautiful morning fog and soft lighting made this shoot quintessentially fall.  I love how these turned out, working with Christie was ahhhmazing.  Hope you enjoy them and Happy Halloween to all!

I’m finally emerging from this fog cloud.  On a personal note, caused by this really annoying headcold.  Also literally, as this city has been experiencing an unheard of amount of fog for the past week.  I love when the weather cooperates and perfectly mimics the mood I’m in.  Thanks, Vancouver!  So the agenda this weekend is to take it easy and get some stuff done around the house while Adam is out of town.  I even cleaned the apartment and baked muffins yesterday.  Don’t think I could be any more domestic if I tried (okay, no I really could lol).

A chunky knit cowl and a Starbucks coffee, is for sure the way to my heart!  I’m searching for the caffeine drip this morning, as the weekend seemed to fly by and somehow productivity levels were low.  Anyone else feeling like this time of year is insane and sure to only get crazier as the holidays approach?  I’m clutching onto any spare time to relax like the precious gift that it is.  In fact, I’ve been using any downtime to watch the original Beverly Hills 90210 on Netflix.  Observing Brandon and Brenda’s drama is the perfect way to zone out and feel nostalgic for the 90’s.  Which, are soooo in right now 😉  Happy Monday, you beautiful people!

Nothing makes me happier than throwing a few afternoon sequins at people.  It just automatically takes your day to that party level, a place where those who are sequin-less just gaze at you in envy of your daytime sparkle.  This black and gold number was actually a gift from Melissa a few years ago.  Exchanging presents with her is the best, because we basically just get each other exactly what we would have bought ourselves.  In fact, maybe this year we should open our gifts and then just hand them back to each other and keep what we originally purchased!  I think I’m on to something great here, people.  I sense a new Christmas tradition in the making.

I’ve made a very fun discovery.  It turns out, that I have a fashion blogging family!  Cousins on both sides of the family are fashion bloggers and nothing could make me happier.  I think most of you know my cousin Miss Melissa (and if you don’t, then please let me introduce you).  And the best find of all is that my youngest cousin on my dad’s side is Olivia’s Style.  She operates her blog on tumblr, which I’ve yet to fully understand.  Is it like Pinterest?  Why would I need both?  I’m so confused – and this confusion really makes me feel old.  But, I do love her West Coast style and I often look to her for layering and outfit inspiration.
I don’t know about you, but I’m sensing the need for a cousin collaboration soon.  I’ll keep you posted 😉
