I recently stopped by my local Mavi store to browse their spring/summer collection and I never would have dreamed that I’d leave that place with anything other than new ultra loose/comfortable boyfriend jeans! The button down denim skirt is a style that I’d really written off as not a viable option for my curves, but here we are, thanks to the magic of stretch denim and Mavi’s impeccable fits. And this wasn’t just one of those seems like a good idea in the moment kind of buys, I have been wearing it a ton! In fact, you’ll be seeing this denim skirt again in tomorrow’s episode of the VLOG!
Woahhhh, I took a few too many days off in a row there. That was a bit crazy. Our resort in Mexico had no wifi signal except for in the lobby. The lobby didn’t have any air conditioning. It was a no brainer, I just genuinely took a few days off work. It was actually kind of nice not always checking emails and Instagram and snap chatting. Unfortunately for me, it was also so hot and humid that my camera kept fogging up outside and I only took photos twice. All these magical plans of exotic outfit photos have now been relocated to good ol’ Vancouver. This fun striped jumpsuit was rocked for dinners in both Austin and Cancun. Re-wearability is pretty much key for packing light! I had the best time jet-setting but I am extra happy to be home again. Having JUST moved back into our place days before we left, I can’t wait to un-pack, organize, and re-decorate. Last night, we did a big grocery shop for the first time in MONTHS. I made a healthy meal and it felt so good to be in control of our lives and home again.
Oh, and if you’re admiring the lighter tan and rose gold watch, it’s the Classic Durham 36mm from Daniel Wellington. Until the end of the month, they are offering you 15% OFF your purchase using the code ‘AFASHION’ so don’t miss out!
Happy Wednesday y’all! Now that I’ve been to Texas for 5 days of my entire life, I can start saying “y’all”, right?
Now, I know I just posted in these Old Navy jeans last week, but they are on constant rotation. When I initially found them for $13 in San Fran, I thought it was all too good to be true. But, they fit like a dream and the whole no stretch denim thing actually works in my favour. An initial shock to the system, having no stretch kind of holds everything in, like a built in spanx, if you will. Of course they do relax as you wear them, but that’s nothing a little wash can’t fix. Anyway, I’ve linked them below because they’re the best way to inexpensively get the latest frayed hem denim look!
Also, thank you for your awesome feedback on our first attempt at video blogging. Our second VLOG from Austin, Texas is now live! Check it out here!
At the end of our London/Ireland adventure in Feb, Alex and I had two and a half more days to spend in London before flying back home. I know, the best, right?! So, we caught the 6 am flight form Cork to an airport in the city that neither of us had even heard of. It was my very first Ryanair experience, and quite honestly, hopefully my last. I was actually thankful for the unnaturally early flight time, as we were able to just glide through the experience in a zombie-like state. We took the tube back to Natasha’s place (Alex’s lovely sister) because she was kind enough to let us each store our large suitcases there. We grabbed a quick breakfast and made our way to our last hotel, Taj 51 Buckingham Gate. So there we are, completely disheveled, and our car pulls up to THE most glorious courtyard. I knew right away that this wasn’t going to be your average London stay.
What did I tell you about pastels? I’m drawn to them like a magnet right now! You can shop these items by clicking on them in the image above. I just got the long green ‘ACME’ dress from REVOLVE and it’s everything. Super light and flowy, but structured enough to not look like a nightgown. I just packed it for our big trip today. You see, Adam and I have a wedding to attend in Cancun next week. When I went to book flights, I saw that we had to stop and change planes in Houston. Since Austin, Texas has been on my list of places to see for years, I knew this was our chance! So, we’re off to Austin for the weekend and then on to Cancun for Andy and Kate’s big day! So excited, I can barely stand it! As always, any recommendation or resources for Austin are most appreciated, be sure to let me know in the comments below xoxo
Gosh I love this time of year. The longer, warmer days and the spring cleaning. The motivation to be outside and with friends and exercising. It’s simply glorious! Adam and I have officially moved back into our place. The new lighter floors looks just as wonderful as I’d hoped. There’s still tons to purge and organize and re-decorate, but it sure feels good to be home again! My mom is going to come over (no shame) today and help me un pack and hang a few things. Can’t wait to show you our entire apartment makeover. It’s about time!
I picked up this pretty pink trench while we were in Toronto and it’s a real show stopper. It’s just so darn fun! I can’t get enough pastel in my life right now, anyone with me on that one?! It’s the ideal piece to get me through these spring days. Shop the look below!
I know this is a bold statement, but stay with me on this one. These RAYE Myra Heels are, quit possibly, the closest to shoe perfection that I’ve ever experienced. Crazy, right? But I should have known that REVOLVE would only have the best of the best and that a RAYE collaboration with For Love Or Lemons would only equate to footwear as gorgeous as this! You see, normally I can’t pull off heels with any sort of criss cross like this. Those dainty little cutouts usually slowly slice my foot and leave things a real mess. These, however, are made with a really soft suede and allow enough give to move with ease. I adore the tie back and the block heel. These are a real win, can’t wait to wear these all summer!
It started as a crazy idea. Half empty coffee cups, pens, and notepads strewn across the table, Alex and I faced each other, that familiar glow of the Mac computer screen illuminating our faces, as we brainstormed our 2016 collaboration plans. The concept was a once in a lifetime trip to London and possibly Ireland. I doubted that it would happen, but the idea made my heart flutter in excitement. We spent a month working endlessly in secret, doing everything we could to make this crazy notion a reality. There were so many moving parts, down to us frantically sending emails at midnight from the Vancouver airport in hopes that we’d be able to find accommodation once we landed (huge shoutout to Natasha for taking us in and letting us store our luggage at your place, you’re the best). I’d NEVER travelled with such a spontaneous, unstructured attitude, but it was incredible. It magnifies that travel rush and gives you the overwhelming sense of being alive. We were able to work on campaigns with both Ted Baker and SHOEme.ca. We had high tea, visited friends and family, ate amazing food, drank more tea and wine and bubbly, and even vodka soda. We experienced the ultimate luxury at Taj51 and the preferred life at The Mandeville. We spoke in horrible English accents and battled the cold February wind. We explored new neighbourhoods, got lost, tried new restaurants, acted like tourists, and had an absolutely memorable trip. Stay tuned for our favourite bites and sights, but for now, feast your eyes on the loveliness that is London Town!
Dressed like a total g-ma and I’m looooving it! Snagged this gorgeous blouse (you can totes shop a similar one here) right before our London/Ireland trip because I thought it’d be a really pretty staple top to add to the suitcase. Of course, I forgot to bring it with, because packing for Europe is always the most stressful, but I finally dug it out of the closet and styled it up for a day at the office last week. It also turn out to be one of the warmest afternoons we’ve had in a long, long time, so that dramatic high neck and gorgeous long sleeves ended up being way too warm. Uncomfortable warm. Went home and changed kind of warm. Isn’t that always the way?!
