And by party, I mean there was just two of us there.  That totally constitutes a party if there’s loud Christmas music and some sugar filled lattes, right?  I mean, it’s a heck of a lot more exciting than my usual Friday night, so I’m cool with calling it a party.
My friend Alex and I decided to throw together an impromptu holiday soiree using what we had already around the house.  She does an awesome job of breaking down the details here, if you’d like to read more.  I can certainly tell you, that some previously ordered and stowed away Taffete party supplies came in very handy.  I always have wrapping tools and paper straws around for this exact reason!  I also keep little gift ideas around like nail polishes and stationary.  My purchasing of paper products is actually a slight addiction, so I don’t know if I should really be promoting it, but come on, can one REALLY have too many notebooks? (the answer is no…)
Alexandra also blew my mind with these One Bowl Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies from Oh She Glows.  They’re nut free and gluten free and actually almost okay for you, but still taste heavenly and definitely satisfy any chocolate cravings.  She whipped them up in no time and they were THE perfect treat.  We brewed some lattes with her Nespresso and honestly, it was the ideal low key, but still festive gift exchange set up!  Thanks so much to Ainsley for joining us and snapping a few pics.  Hope you all had an amazing holiday with friends and family full of love and laughter xo

Flower Crowns and Centre Piece from The Flower Factory

Diner en Blanc is hands down one of my favourite events of the summer.  A themed picnic that’s both fun and extremely visually appealing?  I mean…come on!  Our second DeB experience meant that we were extra prepared with minimal items and only bite sized appetizers.  Gloria at The Flower Factory made us the pretties floral crowns and I made sure not to consume all of the wine at our table this time around.  Remo even custom made us a table.  We’re practically Diner en Blanc experts.  And I may or may not have already purchased an LWD that I plan to wear to next year’s event (justified by the wedding, of course).  Thanks to Jen and Remo for once again bringing us!

Feeling Juicy

Photos are not mine.  They are sourced from here, here, here, here, here, and here
July is coming to a close much sooner that it feels it should.  I want to bottle up these hot summer days and never let them go.  Bright pops of colour, seasonal fruits and fresh juices, as well as bold summer-worthy patterns.  It’s so hot that I feel like melting, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.  Plus, the Vancouver heat pales in comparison with that blazing Nevada sun I experienced in Vegas last weekend!  Which, ironically, has left me feeling less than juicy today.  The post-Vegas struggle is so real you guys.

Things are so hectic right now.  I had to order a Venti Iced Americano today.  A VENTI!  It’s kind of embarrassing carrying a coffee drink of that size around town.  You’re basically telling everyone what kind of day you’re having.  I also may or may not have eaten two and a half coconut buns for lunch this afternoon.  The caffeine made me do it…?  What I’m eventually going to get at, is that even though things are busy, it’s okay because my gosh is it gorgeous out.  It’s tough to complain when it’s twenty six degrees (Celsius for anyone who’s confused by how low that sounds) because summer is ultimately so awesome.  And even though this week is going to be a crazy one, it’s all that much more tolerable when you squeeze in a pre-dinner game of tennis, or have the option of an evening stroll complete with an instagram worthy sunset.  Throw in some weekend beach time, and you’re set!Happy Tuesday, you rascals xo

Don’t Mind Me…

I have been in a bit of a fog since returning from my friend’s bachelorette weekend.  We did a bit of glamping on a ranch about 4 hours away.  The 9+ hours of horseback riding really took a toll on my body though, I think I’ve hit my workout quota for all of June.  Had to schedule in an emergency RMT appointment.  Sigh, getting older is no fun!

So, today, I’m daydreaming about staying in bed all day, breezy summer days, glamorous vacations, and snuggle time with my man.  Hope you’re all having a great week so far xo

Wait, it’s June?

It has recently been brought to my attention that it is June.  We’re almost halfway through the year and I’m sitting here, dumbfounded, like when did it become summer?  I’ve been telling people for months that our wedding is a year and a half away, and the other day my cousin gently pointed out that we actually only have just over a year to go.  Thanks for that dose of reality, Jessica 😛
Anyway, it’s Tuesday so that means I’ve spent my time crafting you a delightful collage of inspiration. Feeling late spring vibes like florals, soft pastels, and pretty braids.  Enjoy xo

Who doesn’t need a little inspiration on a Tuesday?!  I stayed up until the wee hours of the night recently just making Pinterest collages.  It’s like an elementary school project sans the mess of magazines, scissors, , and glue.  Sometimes technology is just the best.  Anyway, this one is all about the power of great shoes, peonies because my obsession continues, chocolate/Karen Walker sunnies, and a quote to make you feel fierce like Bey xo

Macaron Heaven
When people find out about this site, a few of the same questions usually come up.  When did I begin aliciafashionista.com? Why did I start a blog?  How did I build an audience?  How do you curl your hair?  Can you come shopping with me?  Etc.
To be perfectly honest with you, I don’t know why this all began 6 years ago.  On a rainy Sunday evening in April 2008, I registered on blogspot and wrote a few paragraphs and I don’t know why any of you are still here, or how I could possibly be this lucky.  There’s no big secret or formula.  We’re just all together in this weird online world.  Though I shouldn’t be, I really should be sleeping right now.
I just had to stop all of the important things I was doing (watching stranger’s wedding videos…) to say thanks.  THANK YOU for being here.  For reading, sharing, supporting, smiling, emailing, liking, following, commenting, inspiring, being inspired, laughing, crying, and sticking around.  If I could, I’d share one of those macarons with you as a token of my gratitude.  Especially since I should never be in possession of such a large assortment sweets and I polished off more of those heavenly treats than I’d care to admit to you right now.
So, yeah.  You’re kind of the best and I just wanted you to know that.  K thx bye.
