Saturday’s birthday events consisted of dinner at Earls on Fir and Broadway and then hopping on over to The Academic Public House for more drinks. The two-part birthday series. It just warms my heart that everyone came out this weekend, despite the fact that it’s exam time and holiday party season. I was even spoiled with some cards and gifts. Honestly, too much kindness!
It’s so funny to think I always wanted to be older. I remember being the adult when we played house, or how insulted I’d be if a hostess offered me the kids menu at a restaurant. And though I longed for age and wisdom, I couldn’t have ever properly pictured my life in my twenties. Much like how it’s tough to close my eyes right now and envision my life at 50. I would have never thought I’d be where I am right now.I turn 24 today. A day to celebrate my health and happiness, and to embrace being another year older. It’s also a nice excuse to have a drink after work and treat myself to a little shopping, wouldn’t you agree?xo
Kendi wrote a great post today about being yourself. I feel greatly inspired by her words, as I think in the world of social networking it’s so easy to compare yourself. This Facebook friend has the perfect life, this Twitterer (Tweeter?) has the funniest tweets, this blogger has the best outfits. The ironic part is their online perfection doesn’t always translate in real life. And as Kendi points out, the more you compare yourself to others, the more you’re steering away from your own path.
My favourite part of the whole weekend was the shopping. Oh jeez, I’m such an addict!!!! But I left Seattle with some amazing tax free beauty products from Sephora ,as well as a cute top from Anthropologie. I actually wore the Anthro shirt tucked into a skirt in San Fran, it’s pictured here. Think of my Seattle shopping as my warm up to San Fran shopping 😉
Now only one week until the big day. Eeeek so much to do!!!!
Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend so far. I’m off to get ready for dinner and drinks tonight, ciao xoxo
I’m suffering from a little case of the Monday Blues….anyone else feel the same? I suppose it’s that lingering feeling that summer is slipping away. My second job starts on the first week of September, which adds a lot more to my already full plate. I’m very thankful to be taking this semester off school though. People who do full time work and courses in school are obviously insane…or driven to be!
The end of summer ends up being as busy as the entire two months combined. I have Paula’s stagette in Seattle this weekend and then I leave for San Francisco on Thursday. Where have the sunny days gone?
Hope everyone had a great weekend 🙂
How was YOUR weekend?
Nerds Need Love Too T-Shirt c/o Barefoot Contessa // Yellow Skirt from Old Navy // Faux Leather Jacket from Le Chateau
Adam’s friend Tracy is pregnant with twins and her baby shower was on Saturday at Hume Park in New West. I arrived to this table of cupcakes that Laura’s youngest sister made. Umm…amazing? She needs to do this for a living!
The weather on Saturday was so perfect for an outdoor event.
Tracy’s boyfriend Cory has a daughter with a previous girlfriend. She is sooo cute!
It was wonderful to see Tracy so pregnant and to see all of Adam’s friends. I can’t wait until she pops out those two little cuties so that we can all meet them 🙂
