a royal party

Royal Wedding Party

when it comes to the royal wedding, i am a girl obsessed. it stems from a long love for all things british and that i knew prince william and catherine middleton’s wedding would be spectacular. i had to invite my closest girlfriends over to watch! last night we all got dressed up, had wine, cucumber sandwiches, cupcakes and cake pops from cakelicious, and watched all the live coverage from that morning. there aren’t many things i like more than wearing a dress and giant hair piece. sharon of posh veils hand made me this one of a kind piece just for my royal wedding party. isn’t it perfect?!

i loved catherine and pippa middleton’s dresses and of course prince william and prince harry looked handsome as always. all the royal wedding coverage reminded me of my first trip to england in 2009. i happened to arrive the day before the trooping the colour at buckingham palace. none other than the royal studs themselves stood on the balcony, so close to where i was standing! and to think, i missed my one and only chance to meet prince harry and make him fall in love with me. rats!

Hello Prince Harry!

blogger meetup

laughs

i was so delighted to get an invite to a blogger lunch at chill winston last weekend. i spent sunday afternoon with cee of coco and vera, veronika of girl and closet, alexandra of to vogue or bust, and lynn of hearted girl. we had some wine, appies, and lots to talk about! it was as though i’d known the girls forever as we went on about the life of a blogger (hello insomnia and taking outfit photos in public), work, fashion, and everything in between! time flew by and before we knew it, we’d been chatting for 3 hours! the day wouldn’t be complete without a mini photo shoot though and of course, lots of laughs 🙂

i so look forward to hanging out with these girls again and to meeting more people from the vancouver blog scene. there is so much talent in this city, it’s crazy!

heather + max: an engagement

April 14, 2011

Heather and Max are the kind of people you instantly want to be friends with. Their love for each other and zest for life is utterly contagious. I met them through my friend Paula last year and when she recommended me to do their engagement photos, I was ecstatic! The two part engagement series was shot on a rainy day in their apartment complex and then at sunny Belcarra Park the following weekend. Belcarra is where Max proposed, and it was so special that they brought me back there with them to take some photos. Their other family member, Kalix the chocolate lab, was such a great sport both shoots.

If the photos don’t give it away, we had a blast and I cannot wait for these two to finally get married in Mexico next month. Hope these photos make you as happy as they make me. I can’t help but smile every time I look at them!

Maybe blogging is the poor (wo)man’s version of therapy. I think many of us are just twenty somethings, looking for an end to many unanswered questions. I have been playing the old comparison game, and looking at other girl’s outfits as superior to mine. I think we’re all guilty of it, but perhaps we don’t talk about it. Or maybe you don’t feel that way, and for that I am jealous of you. I wish I didn’t care.

The worst part of it all, is that these feelings make me want to shop. I have to use all my will power not to step foot into a store or drive my car to the mall. I’ve filled carts and emptied carts online. It’s the first step of the shopaholic cycle. But see, for the first time in a long time I actually have money and that makes me feel proud. So where is that balance between buying new things and saving some dollars?

Okay, I feel much better. Therapy session over.
Thanks 🙂

vitamin water introductionWhen I started this blog back in 2008, I literally had about 5 readers, all of whom were already my friends. We all have to start somewhere, right? Now, here I am telling you about a series of guest posts I wrote for vitaminwater canada. I never would have dreamed that anyone would start reading my blog, let alone ask me to be a guest blogger for them. It is an incredible honour!

The vitaminwater canada blog covers a wide range of topics. Anything from fitness to music, fashion to current events, and great insider info about local Canadian cities. It’s so cool that they have recruited bloggers from across the country to write for them. I always love finding new blogs to read, especially by fellow Canadians. I really think you’ll love the posts I’ve submitted to vitaminwater canada. If you have a chance, please take a look at their incredibly sweet and flattering introduction. I’ll keep you updated as the posts go live.

Thank you for always supporting me and to vitaminwater canada for this amazing opportunity!

the house that ginger built

December 15, 2010
Brandi had some girls over last night to do a craft and some baking. It was actually really refreshing to steer away from the coffee chat/dinner date to work together on a project.
Here are the instructions to complete the Martha Stewart Magazine Christmas Tree…
All you need is a magazine, but try to pick a merdium sized one. Brandi had a laughing fit when I showed up with an In Style, unaware of what we were using the zines for. Anything in the Vogue/Lucky kind of thickness is perfect.
Bend the spine back before you begin. Then simply fold each page into a triangle as pictured below:

Now fold each page again exactly the same, but into a thinner triangle:

The magazine should now fan out like the one in the picture below. The only thing left to do it flatten the bottom so that it can stand like a Christmas tree.

DSC_0869

To do so, fold each little triangle at the bottom into the envelope type opening in between each page. This is displayed on the burgundy coloured magazine page below (above the running shoe page that hadn’t yet been folded).

You now have a Magazine Christmas Tree!

If you’d like, Brandi took it an extra step and spray painted her Magazine Christmas Tree silver with sparkles and added a red bow. This would make the perfect inexpensive centerpiece at your Christmas dinner.

After our hard work being mini Marthas, we ate some delicious appetizers that Brandi and Kadie made. We also got to work on some awesome cookie decorating and gingerbread house building. I love Christmas!
