Adam and I purchased our first piece of artwork for the apartment last weekend, which was really fun! It has us thinking about giving our space a bit of a refresh. Since Adam purchased the apartment furnished, we haven’t made any changes to layout or even added much of our own decor. Now that I’ve settled in, it’s time to add a few new pieces to make our home cozier and really “us”. Anyway, so far we’re all about vintage 70’s and rustic pieces, so these are just a few that caught my eye online.
Hope you’re having a great weekend xo
Adam and I are moving in together!
He purchased an apartment last summer from a seller that was moving to France, so we was able to buy it fully furnished. Though she had decorated it beautifully, we now have the delightful task of making it ours. The bedroom will be completely re-done and I’ve been surrounding myself with an abundance of design inspiration. And as an HGTV junkie and a home store frequenter, this is a dream come true. I love the challenge of making the space gender neutral, and to slowly make the apartment our own. My biggest issue? Where on earth will I put all of my clothes and accessories?!
If you have ANY interior design blogs or websites, or know of any great Vancouver or online stores please let me know! Any tips and tricks are greatly appreciated. I look forward to showing you the before and after progress we make over the next month until I move in May 1st.
All photos from Apartment Therapy & Design Sponge, two of my favourite interior design blogs!
My post for today is going to be borrowed from my vitaminwater posts because I technically wrote those too. So really it’s all the same, just a different site. Makes sense, non?
Regardless, I have been waiting for weeks for you guys to see this post! My new years resolution (as seen on TheAnthology.com) is to keep my closet organized for 2011. An entire year of organization (…looks over at messy closet and ignores the fact that it’s the middle of Jan and I have already let it get a little messy. I’ll start tomorrow :P). I really was SO inspired after speaking with Andrea, that I want to completely reorganize my closet and purge all those “meh” pieces that I don’t particularly wear.Hope you all enjoy the interview with Andrea. As I said before, please leave a comment if you have any questions for her or just want to say hello 🙂 Thanks so much, you’re all the best!
The idea for the new room was “my vintage heart”, incorporating vintage pieces with modern pretty pieces that I love. I have focused on adding small touches, thanks to inspiration from other design blogs!
I had to fetch my old vintage vanity from my parent’s house because I knew it would perfectly fit the theme in my new place. I had originally wanted to paint it and re-cover the cushion, but my roommates talked me out of it, saying they liked the authentic feel of the dark wood and vintage fabric. I seriously don’t know how I lived without my vanity for a year at the other place! There are other great vanities at this Vanity site including some in white, the colour I wanted to paint my vanity (perhaps I will be doing a giveaway with them soon…hint hint)
This gorgeous chandelier lamp was given to me for free from Andrea the other day.
Me: “Wow Andrea I love this lamp it’s so pretty!”
I offered to pay for it because I desperately needed a floor lamp and the Ikea one I bought for $16 just wasn’t visually appealing. She insisted that I take it, so I definitely owe her one! I could pay you back in free babysitting ADZ 😛
The idea of scarves in a bucket is from Sarah Richardson’s Cottage. I have one bucket of scarves, one of belts, and one with all my hair products (blow dryer etc.) The magnet butterflies that you see throughout my room were a purchase from a small home decor boutique.
I originally thought I’d get rid of my desk but I ended up just using it as more of a place to decorate rather than a traditional desk. I’m left with the dilemma of finding the perfect vintage chair. It’s quite awkward trying to type on the computer while standing.
My desk essentials: a digital picture frame, my favourite fashion books, colour coordinated Ikea magazine holders/boxes, a Q from Urban Outfitters (for my name), small figurines that Adam has given me over the years…
…easily accessible pens and scissors, a Hello Kitty calendar (on the wrong month…oops!), an old school photo of my family, a photo of my grandparents, my fave books, a vintage key, a fake flower (it was for a school project don’t judge), a pic of Austin, and some candles.
