A few key points about me, in case you were plagued with curiosity. One, I am the queen of running late. For obvious reasons, I’m not suuuuper proud of that, but it has been this way since…oh, I guess always. Two, I’m all about the natural ‘no makeup’ makeup. Thankfully for me, these qualities go together quite well. Picture me, already incredibly behind schedule, waving a mascara wand around, cursing whoever created cosmetics. All of this has clearly led to years and years of perfecting the 5 minute face. Let’s begin.
First, we must make our skin happy and moisturiiiiiiize! Do this gently by squeezing the moisturizer onto the back of your hand and using the other to gently apply small amounts to each section in a circular motion. I ran out of my Kiehl’s Ultra Facial (possibly a Christmas idea, mom) and couldn’t budget a new bottle. Someone in the cosmetics section at the local drug store recommended the SIMPLE Hydrating Moisturizer. It’s a very reasonable price and I appreciate the texture of this particular cream, it’s not too heavy at all! This is also the time to apply chapstick to your lips so that it has time to set before you apply lip colour later on.
Next, I use my Lise Watier Portfolio Professional Corrector spot corrector to quickly apply green (reduces redness) and then skin toned concelear to temporarily hide any blemishes.
With age, comes darker under eye circles. It’s really a joy, isn’t it? I’m currently testing out the MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Invisible Cover Concealer. It does the job, but to be honest, I hate the dispenser with a passion. It wastes a lot of the product and makes application a lot tougher than it needs to be. I’m obviously still on the hunt for a great under eye concealer…any recommendations? I’d SO appreciate it!
Many times I just leave it at that for skin coverage, but if my skin really isn’t very healthy, then I do put on a touch of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20. Applied the same way as your initial moisturizer.
I have naturally rosy cheeks, so if I do wear blush, I prefer it to be an offsetting lighter peach. This CARGO one is lovely and applies well with a TWEEZERMAN brush. If I have an extra 30 seconds, I fill in my brows as well. I know, what a wild one!
Now we attempt a winged eyeliner with our L’Oreal Liquid Liner in Black. The beauty of this particular liner is the ease of the brush, but also that it erases very easily! Combined with the moisturizer, you can easily wipe away a failed wing with your finger and it disappears in just one go. Comes in very handy for this days that those eyeliner wings stubbornly won’t match!
I had the Lise Watier 3D Volume Mascara in my makeup kit and I find it really adds length and volume to lashes, though it does have the ability to clump after many uses. My favourite everyday mascara is still the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous. Whenever I veer away, I always come crawling back to Voluminous!
Lip colour depends completely on the day and/or outfit, not that I need to explain that you. This particular pink pout is Charlotte Tilbury, which I love. As of right now though, I’m pretty much exclusively a lip balm gal in the daytime. With the severe cold weather change, I can’t manage to put anything other than Kiehl’s Lip Balm on.
Here’s the result – my face! Hope you enjoyed my very honest everyday light makeup look and if you have any product questions, feel free to ask in the comments below!
