The one piece of advice I heard on repeat from past brides, was to hire a Day-Of Coordinator. I think many of us go into wedding planning with an independent and ambitious spirit, but truthfully, you can’t do it all. I know it can be really tough to stick to your vision and know where to allocate your limited funds, but it’s physically impossible for you to assume any other role on your wedding day other than bride or groom (or mother of the bride, or wedding guest, or anyone else that you try to give this responsibility to). Sure, hiring a Day-Of can sound like an added cost, but I’m here to tell you with as much emphasis as possible that it’s worth EVERY penny. You can’t put a price tag on your sanity. You NEED a Day-Of Wedding Coordinator.
I tried to summarize everything into the top 4 reasons why you need Best Day Ever in your wedding planning life, and here is what it boiled down to…
1. It’s the planning help you need in that final month
Even though the job title states it’s help on the day, it goes so far beyond that. Dene and Chelsey have been helping me for well over a month and raising important logistical questions I hadn’t even thought of and then put everything together in a beautifully detailed spreadsheet. These ladies really went above and beyond to be organized and prepared and I’m forever thankful for it!
2. To help set up and interact with vendors
Just before the big day, Best Day Ever sent an email to our vendors introducing themselves. On Friday afternoon, I was able to officially pass on all responsibility to Dene and Chelsey and I’m telling you, it was the most AMAZING feeling in the world. These ladies were the point of contact for all set up and take down and handled everything so that we could enjoy ourselves. Even though it was raining ALL morning on our wedding day, I sat calmly with my bridesmaids knowing that important last minute decisions were being made with our best interests in mind. It was absolutely heavenly!
3. They make sure the day runs smoothly
Things will inevitably go wrong. Guests will want to know where to go and when. The MC will need correct information to know what to say. Vendors will need to know if things are running on schedule. And guess what? You’re too busy having fun at your own wedding to even begin to deal with any of it! For example, the rain brought our long table outdoor dinner into the covered barn with a completely different layout. My seating chart that I’d spent HOURS on was completely out the window. Dene and Chelsey swooped in and made the best of the situation and pretty sure no one really noticed or even cared that they weren’t in their original assigned seat. Having a Day-Of can just make the day go by as seamlessly as possible, so that no one but you would notice the small details that went awry.
4. You get to actually enjoy your own wedding
Maybe I’m crazy, but I wanted to spend cocktail hour with my friends and family to celebrate the fact that we just got married. I wanted to enjoy the delicious meal we spent so much time choosing. I wanted to dance the night away and not be worrying about who will be cleaning up the dessert table. I went into last weekend feeling so much better knowing I’d handed everything over to Best Day Ever and just appreciated the beauty in our big day. I was able to relinquish control and know that these amazingly talented and capable ladies were going to bring my vision to life!
